More speculation on the Google Phone

Om Malik has the "411" on what he was able to find out about the rumored Google Phone. Can't say I'm too surprised that it sounds like they're working with HTC. Was amused to read that the prototype looks a lot like the T-Mobile Dash though. Wonder if that means the software for it will run on other HTC models, like the Dash. Would be fun to try it out on mine.

In any event, the article implies that most of the Google stuff is written in Java, including the UI. Wonder which mobile Java engine they would use?

So, now you know pretty much as much as I do about this. I think the BIG issue that is waiting to be determined is what the business model will be. If it's ad supported and therefore cheap or free, I think it has a chance to at least become everyone's second phone - as well as taking on the teen market. Which would be pretty smart since if folks grow up with it, they're going to want to stay with it even when they can afford something more.
