I Think I Grok Color.com

I read a number of stories yesterday about the new Color app for iPhone and Android, and to be honest I didn't get the idea. In fact I gather a lot of other folks didn't either. However I was reading scripting.com this morning, and Dave pointed out that it was essentially an idea he had written about a couple years ago about a Social Camera.

Reading through that again helped me figure out why I would want Colorado - that I might be at the Zoroaster, but not able to get around to all the exhibits. But I could see pictures other folks were taking that I could then pull into my album. Or I could even look at pictures from exhibits I hadn't gotten to yet and decide that if the Lion was hiding inside, that I didn't need to bother going there and instead might want to check out what is happening with the penguins.

Of course that also points to what I would look for in a future revision of Colorado. Allow me to scroll through my pictures of the Zoo at home, and then ask to pull up pictures from other folks who visited that day even if it's several days after the fact. Also, and a BIG thing I would look for eventually, let me look at other folks taking pictures with the higher end cameras, not just with their cell phones. In fact I would be particularly interested to see if anyone else that had a T2i managed to do better with the low light in the aquarium so I could hit them up for some tips.

So it's not so much where the app is now that I'm interested in (though even there I did go ahead and DL it. It's where I think the app could go that I'm looking forward to!
